Our Children are Watching Us

Nixons Enemies List

“His own worst enemy”

The good Germans of the 1000 Year Reich ended up in a nightmare world where neighbor watched neighbor and children informed on their parents and where everyone was afraid of everyone else. Hannah Arendt called what the Nazis brought to their people, the “banality of evil.”

The US government has a strategy to turn American schoolchildren into informers. The family now is the potential enemy of the state, and the government is the good-natured, handsome, caring commissar, who will administer justice on the evil parents. All in the name of “the War on Terror.”

Officials Detail Plans To Fight Homegrown Terrorism. This “plan” is called “Empowering Local Partners to Prevent Violent Extremism in the United States” because it is believed terrorists have turned to American operatives who are already here, the Obama the Bomber government is taking to training school officials and encouraging school children to report to their teachers what they think is terrorist activity. If agents who are trained by the FBI, CIA, NSA (or other) have difficulty finding the “bad guys” why does anyone have reason to believe that school administrators, teachers and their students will do any better?

The NPR article goes on to say “The program aims to empower communities by teaching local officials to recognize violent extremism…Just mentioning violent extremism tends to raise hackles. Muslim groups have grumbled that they have had to bear a disproportionate amount of the blame for extremist violence when there are other violent groups — from neo-Nazis to anti-government extremists like the shooter in Oslo — who could also present a threat.

The plan has some hints of a 2008 program in the United Kingdom called Prevent which “broke new ground in trying to get local officials and community leaders involved in spotting radicalization in its early stages.

There are potential behavioral signals…For example, has someone in the community seen them watching violent extremist videos? Are they publicly coming out in defense of Osama bin Laden? Are they talking about the kuffar [unbelievers]? That’s not enough alone, but if that is in a combination of other things, that’s what we are looking for.” Straight out of the sci-fi film Minority Report where “pre-cogs” could see a crime was about to happen and where agents would arrest someone for a “pre-crime.”

Because this program will enlist educators and their students “who haven’t had much exposure to counterterrorism, it will require a good deal of training.” Quintan Wiktorowicz is a senior director of the National Security Council said “The challenge is going to be trying to put the violent extremism initiatives into existing programs.” Indeed, inbetween music and football lessons, will be “Violent Extremism 101” which will help kids learn to seek and find the bad guys. Will this work? Just ask yourself if schools have helped kids, especially poor kids, become more literate in the last two decades? Then think about having these same kids spying on you.

Obama the Bomber is Big BrotherBig Brother is watching us all…

Training of schoolkids and administrators by the FBI should be very interesting. When the FBI started its counterterrorism training its instructors openly expressed strongly biased opinions against Muslims, alleged they have links to terrorism, and Islamophobia became the focus of the training. As examples see the following articles:

FBI Teaches Agents: ‘Mainstream’ Muslims Are ‘Violent, Radical’. “At the Bureau’s training ground in Quantico, Virginia, agents are shown a chart contending that the more devout a Muslim, the more likely he is to be violent. Those destructive tendencies cannot be reversed, an FBI instructional presentation adds…

FBI Taught Agents They Could ‘Bend or Suspend the Law’. FBI instructional material, discovered during a months-long review of FBI counterterrorism training, warned agents against shaking hands with Asians and said Arabs were prone to Jekyll & Hyde temper tantrums.

There are far too many United States citizens who suffer from this “banal” malady, “the great evils in history generally, and the Holocaust in particular, were not executed by fanatics or sociopaths, but by ordinary people who accepted the premises of their state and therefore participated with the view that their actions were normal.”

How banal…
